PASCO and 7 Seas Announcement

We are very pleased to announce that the resources of 7 Seas and PASCO will be merged into one company, effective March 25, 2013.

PASCO and 7 Seas share a commitment to environmentally sustainable fisheries and procurement practices. The result is a transparent approach to doing business. Both companies are committed to service and product excellence, driven by engaged employees who are passionate about meeting customer expectations for quality and service.

Founded in 1967 by John Heras, 7 Seas has continued to grow and prosper as a family-owned and operated Canadian business committed to providing high quality, sustainable seafood to each and every customer. Under its 7 Seas brand, the company sources seafood globally to fulfill the needs of fine restaurants and retailers across Canada.

PASCO Seafood Enterprises Inc. (PASCO) is a privately held, Canadian owned company. Under its brands including Coastal Waters, First Nations Pride Seafood, P.I. Food, and Pasco. PASCO has grown to an operation of international scope and scale, supplying seafood to leading retailers and restaurants around the globe.

The PASCO management team will be joining the 7 Seas management team. As a result, the new company will have a more specialized approach to the seafood business management and a deeper bench than before.

We will continue to promote all established brands. By capitalizing on the strengths of each company, our new organization will offer a broader selection of seafood to our customers, based on the principles of sustainability and service excellence.

We are excited about our new organization, and we look forward to continued strong relationships with our valued industry partners.

Our partnership with the Vancouver Aquarium's Ocean Wise™ program is an example of our commitment to serve and provide sustainable, ocean-friendly seafood. Many of our products also carry the Marine Stewardship Council's (MSC) Chain of Custody certification. What this means is we have been evaluated by an independent third party accredited to assess fisheries to the MSC environmental standard for sustainable fishing. Throughout the supply chain, use of the MSC ecolabel on our products is only permitted where there has been independent verification that the product originated from an MSC-certified fishery. A Chain of Custody certificate for each company in the supply chain provides this verification.

PASCO does not harvest or sell species which appear as endangered or critically endangered on the IUCN Red List. Our fishing practices result in little if any by-catch of other marine life.

Our commitment to environmentally sustainable fishing practices also means we do not purchase fish which have been caught, landed or otherwise procured illegally. We ensure the legality of our supply chain by engaging openly in dialogue with all parties including fishermen, governments, trade associations, non-governmental organizations and food retailers.

Our partnership with Ecotrust lets purchasers trace the origin of the fish they buy from boat to plate. At all of our offload stations along the Pacific coast every piece of seafood offloaded is tagged so that wherever that product goes it can be accurately identified and traced by the consumer. Each tag is imprinted with a unique number which can be looked up via thisfish.ca where we provide detailed backgrounds on the fishermen and their vessels in addition to the product's point of origin.

PASCO Seafood Enterprises is able to exceed the industry's legal requirements because we own our vessels and processing operations. We are boldly leading and shaping opinions in the seafood industry. Our concern for the environment ensures that all of our fishing methods cause no damage to the delicate ocean floor and marine life which it sustains.
